Party in My Cabana

I love manicures and pedicures. Before moving to Fort Wayne I got manicures once every 2 weeks and a pedicure every month. I never missed an appointment. I must admit it was a nice addiction. My salon in Arkansas is called AB Mackie Salon and Day Spa. It is an affordable one-stop-shop and every girlie girl's dream! Need a tan, haircut, manicure/pedicure, massage, and wax all in the same day? AB Mackie is the place to go (be sure to ask for Sarah)! But, ever since I moved to Fort Wayne, I have not had my nails done once. I am engaged and have ugly nails?! Ridiculous, I know. Sam doesn't have any sisters, but somehow understands how important it is for women to feel good about themselves. And he knows I feel really good when I am wearing a fresh coat of OPI nail polish.

So this morning he sent me off to Woodhouse Day Spa for a 1 hour manicure. WOW! AMAZING! RELAXING! It was the most wonderful manicure I've had in a long time. Next to the three (yes 3) hand massages, foot bath soak, and parafin wax, the best part was picking out my nail polish color! You know what I'm talking about ladies...you find many colors you love, but there is no way you can make such an important decision without reading each of their names. Some of my favorites include You Make Me V'room, A Oui Bit of Red, I'm In-Dia Mood For Love, California Raspberry, Mimosas for the Mr. and Mrs., Royal Flush Blush, and Feelin' Hot-Hot-Hot!. This time a new color caught my eye. The name: Party in My Cabana. I love it! It is very bright and "Spring-timey". By the time my nails were painted and dry I didn't want to move. It was so relaxing and I knew I had to clean house today so I was in no hurry to leave the spa. Just to make sure my nails were very dry I went back to the "quiet room" where you can relax even more while refreshing yourself with herbal tea (they have atleast 20 different teas to choose from). To make the whole experience even better, my wonderful fiance paid for the whole thing!

Duck, Duck, Canadian Goose!!!

My younger sister, Brittany, has a wonderful boyfriend named Spencer. Since moving to Indiana, I have called and texted him more often because I am constantly reminded of him. You are probably wondering why I think of him so often and if I am going to profess my love to him on my blog. No, I'm not. You see, Mr. Spencer Ross Jeu, is a duck guide and has an obsession for duck hunting. His duck guide service is called Duxmen Outfitters and, although I have never been on a hunt with him, I hear he is very good! I like to say that his motto is "If it flies, it dies!" Many times my dear, sweet sister has tried to tame this obsession of his, but after many failed attempts, she has grown to accept it and she even hunts with him sometimes! So, back to my reason for blogging about this. I was reminded of Spencer again this morning when I left my house for work. The weather is a bit dreary and kind-of rainy today in Fort Wayne so naturally there were way too many mallards, canadian geese, and swans swimming around in our little pond outside. They are NOT scared of people and most people aren't scared of them. However, I am not one of those people. The Canadian Geese need to go! I am not a goose hater, but they walk around like they own the whole city and they jump in front of cars (like the squirrels on that tv commercial), they come in your yard, and I swear they can smell fear!If Spencer was here he would know exactly how to handle this type of situation. I can't exactly go outside with my shotgun and start killing all the geese. There are laws against that type of behavior and I don't own a gun. So, if you have any recommendations, please post a comment.
Disclaimer: I don't have a picture of the violent Canadian Geese yet, but I will post one soon.

Viva la Fifa

Tonight after dinner Sam had to run some errands one of which was to take Bolt back to the Red Box. I was hoping he would surprise me with another movie night and rent Marley & Me, but to my surprise the World Cup Qualifier is on tv and the USA is playing. Of course we are going to watch the World Cup Qualifier (yawn...)! Yep, that's right, we are going on 83 minutes of fun-filled soccer. Don't get me wrong, I love the sport, but I just don't want to watch it on tv. Sam can tell I am not impressed with his choice of entertainment tonight so every few minutes he changes the channel to American Idol for no more than 5 seconds. Never-the-less, Sam loves watching the World Cup and I love him so it's time for me to make the best of this situation.
Pictured Above: Sam is very happy to see a goal! Yay America!
Pictured Above: Sam does not like me taking pictures while he is trying to "focus". Yes ladies, apparently watching sports requires intense focus.
So here we go...top 5 reasons why I can stand to watch this game (I could only think of 5):
1. Short soccer shorts...If you've been to a soccer game you know why that's my #1.
2. One commentator sounds like a leprechaun
3. The USA is winning 3-0...Which also begs the question, why are we still watching this game?
4. Crazy, drunk fans are always passionate about their team
5. This kid in the picture below. He got so mad after seeing a penalty yet he still proudly waves his American flag. Hooray for patriotism!

a little R&R

Lately Sam and I have been so busy with work, wedding stuff, house hunting, allergy season (yuck), and spring cleaning that we haven't been able to spend time relaxing and enjoying each other's company. So last night we decided to have a much needed and much deserved night of rest and relaxation. Our plans....dinner, movie, and red wine! We LOVE red wine!

I made spagetti because it is one of Sam's favorite dishes. I love my spagetti recipe, but decided I would use a new one just to mix it up a bit. Sam went by the RedBox on his way home and rented a movie. When he came home dinner was on the table and we opened a bottle of red wine, Chianti Classico DOCG to be more specific.

After dinner we cleaned the kitchen, put on comfy clothes, and went straight to the couch to watch the Walt Disney movie Bolt. I love Walt Disney and Pixar movies and this one was great! If you haven't seen it you must rent it today!
